DiscoveryThe IMAX Theater is a state-of-the art dome theater and encompassing you into every story it tells. Most recent, the current showings were The Flight of the Butterflies and Jerusalem. Flight is one man’s 40-year journey to follow and document the greatest natural spectacle. It’s known as the great migration, where hundreds of millions of the monarch butterfly take to the air and head on a grand voyage. Jerusalem is a tale about the oldest and mysterious city, the documentary is captured in understanding the past 5000 years. It digs into how, and why, the city has been destroyed and rebuilt so many times, and explains how it became the center of the universe for three religions.

The Discovery Place also puts on educational events for kids of all ages. In early December, everyone is welcomed to participate in Nutrition in You: Fueling Your Body. This event talks about how what you consume directly impacts how you feel and perform. Also discusses what creates a healthy lifestyle, and easy methods to mix healthy eating with physical exercise. The event is on Dec. 7th, all day.

Now until the rest of the year, Fantastic Frogs is a featured exhibition. It takes you through a frog journey, meeting frogs from all parts of the world and learning about their ‘superpowers’ that have allowed for each one to perfectly adapt to its environment. Learn how the different colors stand for certain abilities and which ones have hair, and why!

Located Uptown, at the corner of Church St. and 6th St., The Discovery Place is an excellent way to spend an afternoon, especially as the winter months are marching in. Check website for IMAX movie times, exhibition schedules, and general operating hours.
