Academic Summer Camp

At Swan Learning Center we know that children can excel. Our accelerated summer program is designed to teach students the basics needed to excel in school. The half day programs are three weeks long. Additional weeks may be added especially when parents want students to work on more than one subject area. Complete details about our academic summer camp can be found below…

How does it Work?

Academic assessment and screening determines your child’s grade level and specific skill gaps. This assessment is offered at a reduced price of $100 for summer camp students.

Registration Details

Times:
Half Day Academic Camp

  • Monday – Thursday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM   or
  • Monday – Thursday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Dates:
Choose three weeks between June 6 – August 18. Consecutive weeks are preferred for optimal learning retention. Parents choose in which 3 weeks to participate. Additional weeks may be added.

Morning Academic Camp 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Afternoon Academic Camp 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Includes Registration, Diagnostic Testing, Morning Snacks, Motivational Program and Progress Assessment when one subject has been the focus of instruction.
Tuition for 3 week camp – $850
Additional Week – $285
Diagnostic Assessment: $100

Academic Assessment

Our battery of academic tests and screens identifies your student’s strengths and areas of need. Following the diagnostic testing we will confer with you to determine the specific programs to meet your student’s needs and goals.

Student’s progress is assessed throughout the program. Progress testing after 30 hours of instruction provides a tangible measure of academic growth.

Morning Academic Choices

Emergent Reading and Math
Beginning readers focus on letters, sounds and blending of words. Students also work on readiness skills, discrimination, and math awareness goals.

Reading Comprehension & Vocabulary
Teaches core comprehension skills and builds vocabulary. Focuses include: oral reading, reading rate, spelling, advanced comprehension and vocabulary skills. Turns a good reader into an excellent reader.

W R I T E Program
The W R I T E program teaches students to compose well structured, balanced paragraphs and essays. Students master sentence structure, paragraph development and essay planning. Specific grammar lessons round out the program.

Foundation Math
First grade through pre-algebra skills are identified and taught to build a solid Math foundation. Students learn the basic skills upon which math concepts are built. Core objectives are taught to mastery, which insures successful application of skills.

Advanced Math
Algebra and Geometry skills are taught to mastery. Students catch up on missed skills or focus on getting ahead. The program is customized to each student.

Enrichment Choices
The enrichment strands give parents the option of adding an additional area of instruction to a child’s program.

    Consecutive weeks are preferred for optimal learning retention.
  • The diagnostic assessment may be done prior to summer camp. The assessment usually takes 1 1⁄2 hours to 2 hours to complete and is given in the morning. If you would like to have the assessment done before camp:
    1. Register for camp
    2. Call the center to arrange an appointment to complete the diagnostic evaluation.
    3. The center will make an appointment for you to discuss the results of the evaluationwith the director.
  • $200 Deposit when enrolled Balance Due on first day of camp

  • Summer Camp deposits and tuition are non-refundable. We cannot schedule makeup days for absences. The balance of tuition is due one week before your student's first week of camp. The balance will be charged to the credit card on file the Monday before your student's first week of camp. Registration is not complete until your deposit is received.
